Alternative Pest Control

Alternative pest control is defined as the management of unwanted pests. Pest control is usually required if a person’s health will be affected by the species or if the pests will be destructive towards the economy. Several species have become a problem because of the direct effect on humans. Having alternative pest control may help diminish the negative effects of unwanted pests.

Some techniques of alternative pest control include trash bins with locking lids. Raccoons and other large animals will not be able to get into trash bins and tear open plastic bags if the trash bin is securely locked. Another method of alternative pest control may be to not feed birds with scraps at a public site. Birds, such as seagulls, will become reliant on this food source and cause them to act violently towards humans. Proper waste management and the drainage of still water may also reduce the breeding of pests.
